Torch is an organization where people who identify as LGBT, who are Questioning their sexuality, or who simply want to support the LGBTQ community can come together and socialize without fear of alienation.
If you identify as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, if you are Questioning your sexuality, or if you are an ally of LGBTQ folks, you are not alone. We are a social organization who meets on a regular basis to discuss current issues, offer support, and to provide a social outlet.
We have a listserv mailing list as a form of communication, discussion, and support. It is also a forum for those questioning their sexual and/or gender identity, as well as those thinking about coming out or are already out. The listserv offers anonymity for those who register with a non-Stevens email address. If you are interested in joining the mailing list, please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Torch is a student-run organization with allies from the administration, staff, and faculty from the Stevens community. Our office is located on the third floor of Pierce in The Minor Studies Reading Room.
Our purpose is to create a welcoming environment for all people interested in developing their understanding of LGBTQ issues and to help build a community of care, inclusion, support, and trust. We will strive to recognize and celebrate diversity within the LGBTQ student population.
